Garnacha for every occasion

When the time to drink wine arrives, people usually pick grapes that they’ve tasted before because it’s safer for the palate. However, we recommend extending your taste to new grapes that will make you fall in love again with wine.

This grape is relatively low in acidity, high alcohol and fast development. Garnacha based wines tend to be tangy, weighty and intensely perfumed, perfect for blending with other types of grapes. Garnacha’s largest producers are Spain, France, and in the New World, California; where is widely planted in the Central Valley region. Spain was the largest producer of this red wine grape, and it was planted all over the northern half of the country that has more land planted to vines that any other in the world. In France, Garnacha is most widely planted in the famous region, Southern Rhone. It should also be mentioned the historic and ancient appellation of Chateauneuf – du – Pape, which is known for it’s vast majority of blends.

Garnacha varietals tend to be fruity and refreshing, this being a suitable complement for a family and friends dinner that includes spices and herbs, roasted meats and vegetables in the menu. It’s as well subtle for a single glass of wine while having an interesting conversation, or not. We shouldn’t limit ourselves in the world of wines, push yourself and try new grapes that will extend your palate. Garnacha based wines should definitely have a place in every cellar.
